In tandem with our mission to uplift and share our multicultural influences, we decided one of the best ways to do so was by sharing one of the things we love the most: FOOD.  See our list below to find some of the most delicious eats we could find across the US.

Calle Ocho, Cuban + Latin American

2756 W 106th St, New York, NY 10025

Nestled between Manhattan's Upper West Side and South Harlem, this cozy restaurant offers delicious grub at a reasonable price.  From their bottomless boozy brunch featuring six different types of Sangria to their to-die-for Vaca Frita al Caballo, you cannot go wrong ordering any menu item here.  Our go-to appetizer is "Gallitos'' which consists of a platter of traditional costa rican soft tacos, carne asada, salsa verde shrimp and chipotle chicken. Come hungry.

Bistec, Camarones, and Calamari Frito.

Favela Cubana, Brazilian + Cuban

543 LaGuardia Pl, New York, NY 10012

Located just south of NYU, Favela Cubana is an affordable spot with endless options. Be warned -- it's easy to fill up on appetizers here, but the real treats are the entrees.  We highly recommend the Camarones Al Ajillo (Pan-Seared Shrimps with Grilled Asparagus) and the Lechón (Braised Pulled Pork Shoulder with Maduros, White Rice, Black Beans). Additionally, you MUST get a side of the maduros (fried sweet plantain) if it doesn't already come with your meal. Thank us later.

Glazed Hen, Korean Fried Chicken

74 5th Avenue, New York, NY 10011

While we aren't sure Glazed Hen actually exists at any location, as we can't actually find the restaurant itself (Read: Ghost Kitchens); however, we ARE sure that this slaps.  Glazed Hen has become a sunday order-in ritual for us, as their Korean Fried Chicken is the best we have ever had. We recommend trying bone-in, Thai Chili or Garlic Parmesan wings.  Just $12.95 for 10 wings and $21 for 20.  (We order ~40 at a time.)

Taqueria Diana, Mexican

129 2nd Ave, New York, NY 10003

With locations in East Village, LES, Hell's Kitchen and Williamsburg, you have no excuse not to hit Diana’s on your lunch break. At just $3.50 a taco, this place will leave you stuffed and content. Make sure to add an extra side of hot salsa with your order.

Sugar Sweet Sunshine, Bakery

126 Rivington Street, New York, NY 10002 + Essex Market, 88 Essex St, New York, NY 10002

SWEET TOOTH HEAVEN. OH, MY GOD. This place is so mouthwateringly tasty, we almost don't even know where to start.  If you're as indecisive as we are, we recommend ordering a dozen of their cupcakes and trying as many flavors as possible. Our favorites are the "Bob" (yellow cake with chocolate almond buttercream), Red Velvet, Pistachio, "Holla Back Girl" (banana cake with cream cheese icing), Pumpkin, and their signature "Sunshine" featuring yellow cake with vanilla buttercream icing.

They also offer a handful of vegan options.

Andrene's, Soul Food + Caribbean Cafe

308 Kennedy St NW, Washington, DC 20011

When the grub is served in styrofoam, you know it's gonna be gas.

Andrene's is a family-owned, local Caribbean Cafe tucked into Upper DC featuring jerk chicken, oxtail and curried chicken. You can taste the love and effort they put into their dishes. Sides range from their gooey Mac-N-Cheese, Fried Plantains, and Potato Salad, to Cornbread and Cocobread.

Be ready to loosen your belt a notch… or two.

Adalberto’s, Mexican

1868 Rosecrans St, San Diego, CA 92106

As San Diego is known for their authentic mexican cuisine, finding a killer taco spot typically isn't too difficult.  However amongst the plethora of options, Adalberto's easily checks all our boxes.

With two locations and a 24-hr drive-thru, Adalberto's delivers “fast-food” prices and speed, but with sit-down quality in a family atmosphere. We recommend the Carne Asada nachos and the 2-Rolled Tacos Combo (with rice and beans of course).  Come with your order in mind as taking a first glance at their mile-long menu can be overwhelming upon arrival.

You really can't misfire with anything on the menu here.

The Virginian Restaurant, American

"The Corner" 1521 University Avenue, Charlottesville, VA 22903

Nested in the heart of UVA on the historic Corner, "Virg" has been a Charlottesville tradition since 1923. With cozy indoor seating and a rustic vibe, you can sit and stay for a full meal or just come by for a drink (or five). We suggest getting the Spinach & Artichoke dip and the "stumble down" Mac and Cheese for starters. For main dishes, the Southern Fried Chicken is our go-to, as well as "La Casa Burger" (a half-pounder topped with pimento cheese, fresh jalapeños, pico, black beans, Texas Pete).

Virg also offers drink deals depending on the day of the week you come, but we suggest going on Thursdays to take advantage of their $2 cocktails.

Lavash Cafe, Authentic Mediterranean Fare

2985 N High St #1103, Columbus, OH 43202

Located just North of Old North Columbus, Lavash Cafe offers every kind of Mediterranean cuisine under the sun.  Lavash is family owned and operated with an incredibly friendly staff.  The prices are very affordable making it ever-so-tempting to buy one of everything in sight.  Our favorites are their home made Garlic Sauce (we've began buying it in bulk whenever we're in town, it's THAT good), the Falafel, the Chicken Shawarma and the Berry Smoothie.
